Step #1: Open the Android Messages app from the app drawer.

Step #3: Tap the three-dot (Kebab menu) on the top right of the screen.

Step #4: On the Details Page, tap the “Block Contact” button.

Step #5: In some devices, a pop-up will appear and you have to choose whether you want to report text messages as spam. If you check the option, then the spammer’s number and texts will be sent to Google. And in some devices delete conversation option appears.

​To tackle that scenario, you must know the proper way to unblock the messages as well, which I will tell you next.


Step #1: Open the Android Messages app from the app drawer.

Step #2: Tap on the Message that you blocked previously.

Step #3: Tap the three-dot (Kebab menu) on the top right of the screen.

Step #4: Tap the “Blocked Messages” button.

Step #5: Tap the Message to unblock and then tap the “unblock” button.

Now, you know how to unblock messages.

Enabling the Caller ID and Spam Protection option enables a service called Hiya (services depend on the device manufacturer), that will show names and profiles of callers and message senders who are not in contact and identify them if the sender seems suspected spam. If you don’t want to use this service, then you can use Truecaller services as well.

Step #1: Open the Android Messages app from the app drawer.

Step #2: Tap on the three-dots (Kebab menu) on the top right of the screen.

Step #3: Tap the Caller ID and spam protection option.

Step #4: Toggle on the Caller ID and spam protection on your android device.

Step #5: Now, toggle off the Share name and number option below.

Will blocked messages come through when unblocked?

No, you will not be able to access the messages from the blocked caller. Whenever the blocked contact text, the servers will reject to receive the message.

Can you see if a blocked number has tried to text you?

No, once you block someone from texting, there is no way to see the messages that were sent to you while you had blocked the number. However, if you want to start receiving the messages again, you can unblock the contact number anytime.

How can you tell if someone blocked you?

There is no such way to identify if someone has blocked you, however, there are some hints or indicators such as when you send a message, ‘delivered’ text does not appear, etc, that can be used to determine if someone has blocked you.

Will no contact work if someone blocked me?

No, no contact will work if someone blocks you. However, you can use another number to contact that person.
